History

2014 - Ruth becomes an ambassador for global chocolate brand Callebaut. The new Chocolate & Pastry School is completed. Located above the Cocoa Black Peebles shop (pictured), the Chocolate & Pastry School is selected as Callebaut's Associate Academy in Scotland.

2013 - Ruth Hinks represents the UK at the finals of the World Chocolate Masters. She finishes in 5th place (highest ever UK entrant) against 20 national champions. Cocoa Black works with Scottish Enterprise on developing its e-commerce proposition and online shop.

2012 - The Chocolate & Pastry School welcomes HRH Prince Edward, who enjoys a morning making chocolate truffles. Ruth wins the UK World Chocolate Masters - the first person to hold both the UK Confectioner of the Year and UK World Chocolate Master titles.

2011 - Ruth is named UK Confectioner of the Year. The resulting demand for Cocoa Black chocolates, cakes and patisserie allows the business to extend the shop and launch its first e-commerce site.

2010 - Cocoa Black acquires a beautiful listed building on the banks of the River Tweed. With its picturesque setting in Peebles, near Edinburgh, the Cocoa Black shop quickly becomes a destination for chocolate lovers everywhere.

2009 - Cocoa Black opens the Chocolate & Pastry School. With Ruth’s experience and professional contacts, she conceives a vision of developing a world-class training facility for anyone with a passion for chocolate making and pastry work.

2008 - Cocoa Black is launched in Peebles, near Edinburgh.
