Ruth Hinks is the UK World Chocolate Master and entrepreneur behind the multi-award winning chocolatier and patisserie, Cocoa Black.
Originally from South Africa, Ruth has worked as a chocolatier and pastry chef for twenty-five years. During her career she has worked with and trained many well known chefs, including Australian Masterchef judge George Calombaris who was her apprentice in Melbourne. Her passion for international competition has brought her widespread acclaim and industry recognition.
Following her success at the 2013 World Chocolate Masters, Ruth is now officially recognised as one of the top-5 chocolatiers in the world. In 2014, Ruth became an ambassador for global chocolate brand Cacao Barry. Her chocolate and pastry expertise has been showcased on national television and she is frequently asked to demonstrate at international culinary exhibitions and corporate events.
As owner of The Chocolate & Pastry School in Peebles, near Edinburgh, Ruth is passionate about passing on her skills to culinary enthusiasts and the next generation of chocolatiers and pastry chefs.
