Chocolate Orange Cake (Vegan)

The fruity flavours of No. 10 dark chocolate work exceptionally well with this orange cake.

50g Glucose syrup
50g Caster sugar
250g Orange juice
125g No. 10 dark chocolate
50g No. 7 dark chocolate
80g Vegetable oil

480g Plain flour
450g Caster sugar
10g Baking powder
Pinch Salt
250g Water
250g Orange juice
1 Orange zest
180g Vegetable oil
10g White vinegar
5g Vanilla extract
60g Cocoa powder


Ganache (prepare the day before)

  1. Bring the glucose syrup, sugar and orange juice to the boil.
  2. Combine the chocolates and oil, and pour over the orange juice mix.
  3. Blend until smooth.
  4. Set over night at room temperature.


  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Grease 2 x 9” cake rings.
  3. Combine all the sponge ingredients together.
  4. Pour the mix into the cake rings, until 1.5cm from the top.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a skewer comes out clean.
  6. When cool, sandwich the two sponges together, and mask with an even coating of ganache.

Store in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
